| We are sorry we had to cancel the shoot, this was due to flooding which made the field unfit to use. We look forward to seeing you in January, and would like to thank you for your support throughout the year. Terry & Gary. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

The Sporting shoot was reduced to 60 bird to allow room for the hotly contested flush which went to a shoot-off before being taken by Richard Perry and Terry Munson. The "turkey shoot" was won by Lee Pritchard. A fairly good turnout on what proved to be a dry, cold day although it was soggy underfoot. The four-wheel drives were kept busy around the gateway, and wellington boots essential footwear. The birds were challenging due to the brisk wind and as shown by the relatively low scores. Next shoot is SUNDAY 29TH. DECEMBER HAPPY CHRISTMAS, AND WE WISH YOU SAFE SHOOTING.

We seem to only get a couple of good, dry shooting days and Sunday was a really good one. A lot of people commented very favourably on the layout, we were really busy during the morning, but had finished by about 1pm. There were a lot of new faces, several said they had found us on your website !!! Thank you again for including the shoot. NEXT SHOOT - SUNDAY 25th. AUGUST, START AT 10.00am, LAST CARD 1300

Terry and his crew laid on a very challenging, but hitable, 80-bird layout. The "Teal" pair with midis was easier than it appeared, followed by a driven pair in the woods - if shooting the latter pair for dinner, many would have gone hungry! Stand One, a pair from down the hill, encouraged newer shooters by dropping almost at your feet - it got more difficult from that point on. Stand Six, a simple away bird with plenty of time followed by a driven which popped out and showed itself for a very short distance gave most shooters an easy 5 points and the opportunity for five more if you were quick and skilful (or lucky). A couple of novice shooters went away well pleased having scored creditable 20 and 24 respectively so there was something for everyone. Look forward to the next shoot in July. I think you'll agree, the competitors who ignored the weather forecast had a mainly dry shoot. Terry put up a good layout starting with Stand One - the very long approaching "Dropping Crows" almost gave you time to reload after calling pull - to the driven pair on Stand Eight which dropped clay onto your head if you were fast enough to get them. Some very good scores were achieved in all three classes despite the rain showers and the wind making some targets erratic. Would all regular shooters please check at the next shoot whether they have an outstanding prize to collect - a number have not been claimed yet. Novice shooters are very welcome, with expert help and guidance freely available, along with gun hire on production of photographic proof of identity. Groups are also welcome. Membership remains open at £20 for the calendar year to Dec. 31st. NEXT SHOOT - SUNDAY 30th. JUNE, START AT 10.00am, LAST CARD 1300

The shoot had a dry day, but the high wind blew the clays around making for relatively low scores. A very good turnout, complimentary about the shooting layout, and the mix of easy and difficult targets, although the wind generally made them all "challenging" (otherwise known as difficult according to some !!!). Next shoot is SUNDAY 26TH. MAY. 80-bird competition, prizes to 3rd. place in A,B and C only. Members £14, non-members £18 (note that membership is open at £20). With advance notice, Leigh Mill can lay on shoots for small groups, and will loan guns only on production of a PHOTO-ID (retained until the gun is safely returned). Advice and assistance is freely available to novice and beginners.

A nice dry day for the shoot, ground dry and hard, not too windy. A challenging 80-bird competition resulting in unusually low scores, a few moans from the "easy-bird, high-score" brigade but more congratulations from the majority. Membership now open - always helps when applying for a shotgun licence - at £20, saving £4 on an entry !!!

| Sorry to report that the shoot this month has had to be abandoned due to the very heavy rain.Terry checked the field Saturday night and reviewed it again this morning, and regrettably the ground condition is very boggy with surface water running down the slope. Vehicle access is poor, with the likelihood of getting bogged down and people wading through mud. Coupled with the blustery wind affecting the clays, it has regrettably been decided that the shoot cannot be held. Leigh Mill's apologies to all, and hope that the shoot can be held at end of February as normal. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

The shoot was very successful and well attended. Terry laid on an 80-bird layout, Pool Shoot and 20-bird/ 2-man Flush. With the very cold weather, the ground froze so the conditions were very good underfoot. A light breeze didn't interfere with the clays, resulting in good shooting and high scores in all three classes. £40 cheque for each first in class, and shells for 2nd. and 3rd. places as usual.
