| I'm afraid the weather got the better of us again at Leigh Mill ! Last nights extremely heavy rain flooded the shoot and regrettably it was decided that the shoot had to be cancelled today. We would like to thank everyone for their support during 2003, and wish you all a happy and prosperous 2004. I hope to see you at the 25th. January shoot. | |||||||||||

Lovely weather on Sunday, little wind so clays steady and reliable, made for a good and high-scoring shoot. Terry put up another well received layout, with a midi/standard teal pair in the woods ( I got eight, so it must have been very hittable) and a lovely pair right to left and vice versa, very low and fast, at the pond. Stand six, over the next field (simultaneous teal and a going-away dropping) made you move smartly to catch the pair. Apologies for the delays at stand four, caused by a faulty power lead to the trap - this will be rectified in time for July 27th. shoot, and we'll try to avoid any more delays. Everyone's welcome, and would all winners please collect your prizes?

Terry tried several new trap layouts today, all well received as "challenging" (ie. "you sure these are hittable?!") and the scores reflected the degree of difficulty - compare to last month. It's no fun if you don't have to work at hitting them - Terry certainly made us work for every point for example at the Teal/Dropping Crow pair at trap 5 !! Apologies to those whose shooting was delayed by a couple of breakdowns caused by defective batteries - fortunately we have spares, so no-one was held up for long. Next shoot - 29th. June, 10 am. Best Regards - Roger.

What a day for surprises. As usual, an excellent layout, but almost a gale blowing! Clays along stands 1 to 4 flying about with no standard flight possible in the wind, but the competitors knocked them down - look at the scores achieved. Nick Garrett made a surprise visit and knocked Ben Ayres out of first in A, then Bill Tidnam achieved I think, a personal best - although a good shot, the erratic flight of the clays suited his style. Ben Ayres may have had to settle for second place, but his son, James, made up for it by getting a well-deserved first in C-class. He's been looking to grab the C-High Gun for months now, since starting to compete. Very well done to all our prizewinners. Membership remains open, a saving of £5 on the price of a card, and still worth the £25 annual membership. Prices remain amongst the keenest in the area as the club is run for the sport - not for profit. Guns for loan - security against a photocard unless a member can personally vouch for you - and help/guidance for novices. Shoot last Sunday in each month - 10 am to 1pm (last card sale). Hot food and drinks always available.

An excellent day out, dry and mild with a good, high-scoring layout resulted in very high scores across all three classes. Just to repeat that membership is open at £25 per calendar year, which offers a £5 reduction at £15 - round (80 clay). Despite the regrettably necessary increase in membership and shooting charges,
